Fresh Faces in the Village - GF Tacos

On June 22nd, GF Tacos opened their doors to the streets of Osborne selling their delicious flavours of Mexico. Owner, Jack Chester, said it all came from an opportunity presented by Osborne Taphouse, “He had an extra kitchen space he was looking to rent and my friend Jimmy and I had thought about doing our own thing restaurant wise.”

It was almost perfect timing for GF Tacos to open, as restrictions have been easing. “Takeout food is definitely more common now, and with more people walking around, it gives us a good opportunity.”

GF Tacos is the name you’ll see but Good F*cking Tacos is the name you might more commonly hear, “I’ve always been one to push boundaries,” Chester says, “It strikes a note with people right away, it’s almost like a dare that you have to try our tacos. You have to come see for yourself if we’re lying about our name or not.”

“It’s not a matter of coming to have our tacos as opposed to somewhere else, we are different and it’s the exact same way in Mexico. If you go to different places your going to get different tastes.” Chester said when explaining they don’t feel in competition with other Mexican restaurants, “Go try their food and then come try ours, it’s all different and you just have to find what flavours work.”

Visiting GF Tacos in Osborne is more of an experience. Getting to see the space in the back lane allows you to see the graffiti designs on the walls and you’re able to eat right away in the bar area.

Chester says they are sticking to street tacos as to not get overstretched but also to make sure they are providing the best flavour in their tacos as they can. If you are planning on stopping by and trying of their delicious street tacos, Chester suggests trying his favourite combo, Give Me All the Tacos. It give you a taste of each one and than you know for next time which you loved the most. “There’s six different flavours and they’re all so good in their own way.”
